Stories of Success and Support from the ALYN Hospital Community
PELE’S WARTIME MIRACLE
With the outbreak of war and the evacuation of civilians from their homes along the northern and southern borders, children with disabilities who had already acquired independence and whose homes were adapted to their needs found themselves in hotels and other temporary housing, without their adapted equipment. In response, PELE has risen to the occasion and has been in search of solutions for these children.
ON HANNUKAH, ALYN AND PELE
BRING LIGHT & JOY
The PELE team is working together with Israeli hospitals caring for soldiers wounded in the war and young people maimed in the horrendous terrorist attack of October 7th. PELE is also creating and adapting solutions for children who have been displaced from their homes and are lacking the assistive equipment they left behind. These solutions aim to increase their independence and ensure that they can continue to grow and develop even in these chaotic times.
LOCAL STUDENTS FIND CREATIVE WAYS TO SUPPORT THE CHILDREN OF ALYN
Since October 7, we have been touched by the acts of loving kindness, g’milut chasadim, of local students towards the children of ALYN Hospital. Three local Jewish Day Schools: The Leffell School (White Plains, NY), the Mercaz Academy (Plainview, Long Island), and the Abraham Joshua Heschel School (New York, NY) have undertaken chesed projects to show the children and staff at ALYN that they are keeping them in their hearts.
