Tearing Down the Wall

One of ALYN Hospital’s signature departments is the Respiratory Rehabilitation Center. When the pandemic started, ALYN knew that for the ventilator-dependent children, contracting a respiratory illness caused by COVID-19 could have been life-threatening. To minimize every possible chance of infection, in March 2020, the hospital staff implemented new medical protocols and constructed a temporary wall, creating an isolated wing for all respiratory patients within the hospital. Now, with the pandemic waning in Israel, earlier this month the hospital celebrated the breaking of the wall.

Dr. Maurit Beeri marked this happy occasion, saying, “I wish that the breaking of the wall could also be a symbol of the union of hearts between all in our hospital island, workers and patients, and the removal of all disabilities.”
