TZURIEL FRANKENTHAL

Like many of ALYN’s patients, Tzuriel Frankenthal was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a child. However, in 1989, the landscape of pediatric rehabilitation looked very different than what exists today. Many of the groundbreaking advancements in assistive technology, rehabilitation therapies, and adaptive equipment that ALYN employs today were either in their infancy or did not yet exist. Access to specialized care was more fragmented, and families had to fight harder to piece together the best resources available for their children.
Throughout childhood, Tzuriel’s father relentlessly gave his son every possible opportunity to grow, develop, and gain independence. He sought specialists, pushed for innovative treatments, and refused to accept limitations. This tireless commitment helped shape Tzuriel into the determined individual he is today. Many of the rehabilitation techniques that are now standard at ALYN were still in experimental stages when Tzuriel was undergoing treatment in the 1990s and early 2000s. Looking back, he sees how much progress has been made—not just in medical advancements but in the philosophy of rehabilitation itself. While no two patients are alike, he is continually amazed by the remarkable strides ALYN’s young patients make daily. Seeing children today reach mobility and independence that once seemed out of reach fills him with admiration and hope.
One of the aspects of ALYN that Tzuriel admires most is its holistic, multi-dimensional, and patient-specific approach to rehabilitation. To him, ALYN is not just a hospital; it is a think tank, a hub of innovation, and a community of experts who stop at nothing to ensure every child can access the best possible care. Unlike in his childhood, where resources were scattered and often difficult to obtain, he now sees all the essential rehabilitation services housed under one roof at ALYN, giving children a far greater chance at success.
Tzuriel’s relationship with ALYN began in 2007 when he was exploring a career in rehabilitation. His involvement with the hospital was initially focused on generating new ideas and raising awareness about ALYN’s mission. His passion for the work and deep personal connection to the hospital fueled his involvement for many years. His role has since shifted primarily toward financial support, ensuring that ALYN remains a global leader in pediatric rehabilitation. However, his emotional connection to ALYN runs much deeper. For Tzuriel, ALYN is more than a hospital—it symbolizes possibility, resilience, and the unwavering belief that every child, regardless of their physical challenges, deserves the chance to reach their full potential.
At the beginning of this year, Tzuriel fulfilled a lifelong dream by making Aliyah. As part of his journey, he dedicated a brick at ALYN Hospital to honor his late father who was so vital to shaping Tzuriel’s outlook on perseverance, determination, and pursuing the best possible care.
