HEALING FROM TRAUMA
Treating Physical Disabilities in Children Caused by the Emotional Trauma of October 7
Children are often the innocent victims of conflict, and the trauma they experience can have lasting effects. In the wake of the October 7 massacre and the ongoing conflict, ALYN has seen a significant rise in children and adolescents suffering from Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). This disorder presents as a functional physical condition (i.e. pain, paralysis) without an organic cause, often triggered by the immense stress and trauma these young patients have endured and may repress.
Given ALYN’s holistic approach, a child with FND can receive all the services he/she needs in one place. While the root cause is psychological, treatment must be a combination of mental health work as well as physical rehabilitation. The combination has been shown to be successful.
ALYN has been treating FND for 15 years and is considered an expert. Many doctors will refer children to ALYN over other pediatric facilities as a result. ALYN is currently treating children from all over the country who are suffering from FND, helping them to rebuild their lives and return to their homes and communities.
ALYN’s holistic approach includes:
Comprehensive Diagnosis and Assessment: Utilizing advanced imaging and diagnostic tools, the team conducts thorough evaluations to accurately diagnose FND and to differentiate from other neurological conditions.
Multidisciplinary Treatment: Personalized treatment plans include a team of physicians, psychologists, physical and occupational therapists and psychiatrists incorporating cutting-edge techniques to address both physical and psychological symptoms.
Family Support and Education: Offering support services for families to help them understand and manage FND and to provide a supportive home environment.
