Dear Riders,
It is with deep regret I am writing to tell you that holding Wheels of Love 2021 as planned is impossible due to the current state of the pandemic. We do, however, want to continue to provide a meaningful Wheels of Love experience to our cyclists and make sure you can still ride as a community for the children of ALYN, while protecting the health and safety of our participants, volunteers and staff.
Wheels of Love will be restructured as an off-road ride, with an accompanying lightly-supported on-road route for a very small group of cyclists. More details to come in the next week.
We are exploring a multi-day bike ride in the DC area, to be held the same week as Wheels of Love, beginning October 24, and will let you know as soon as we can determine if it’s possible to organize the ride in this short timeframe.
Given the success of last year’s virtual option, #MyALYNRide, we will look to create smaller, community-based rides in major cities, with support from AFAH.
Wheels of Love is ALYN Hospital’s major fundraising event and the money raised helps us bridge the financial gap between reimbursements from referring health agencies and the actual cost of ALYN’s best-in-class, multidisciplinary care. Whatever the ride looks like this year, one thing will not change – the children, families and staff of ALYN will be counting on you for support.
Please contact the American Friends of ALYN Hospital office with any questions and stay tuned for more updates.
Thank you for your patience, your friendship, your generosity and for keeping the children of ALYN close to your hearts!
